Town of Yarmouth, located in beautiful and historic Southwestern Nova Scotia, is the financial, business, education, and lifestyle centre for 55,000 people who live in the tri-counties of Yarmouth, Digby and Shelburne. The Town is now seeking a Planner to join their Planning and Development Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career planner to build skills and gain valuable, hands-on experience in a municipal setting. It is also an opportunity to work and live in a vibrant community which has a keen focus on sustainability and quality of life for its residents.
In this role, you will work on a range of interesting files including downtown redevelopment, heritage preservation, waterfront renewal, transportation, and climate change. You can expect a busy and engaging work environment. You will also act as a resource to the public, staff, Council, and the Planning Advisory Committee on planning and development matters—providing policy research, analysis, and advice. You will plan and implement public consultation opportunities, as appropriate.
As the ideal candidate, you understand the issues in municipal planning, are committed to building sustainable communities, and enjoy rural living. You must also be a member (or eligible for membership) in the Canadian Institute of Planners.
If you are interested in this challenging opportunity, please forward your resume and a cover letter explaining why you are qualified for this role. Submissions can be emailed to Gerald Walsh Associates Inc. at firstname.lastname@example.org, quoting project number 1822 in the subject line.
