Executive Director - Spring Garden Area Business Association - POSITION FILLED

The Spring Garden Area Business Association is the “voice of Spring Garden ”, representing member businesses to various levels of government and other key stakeholders in the community. 

The Association gives its 350 members a voice at the table on major issues affecting the Spring Garden area.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are seeking a highly-respected individual to guide the organization as its new Executive Director.

What qualities are needed as Executive Director?

As the senior executive leader, you are at ease as the face of the association in community development, advocacy, and outreach. You will build and maintain good working relationships with members, community groups, government, media, and other key stakeholders, such as the Halifax Partnership and Halifax Chamber of Commerce.

You understand what makes a city work and how Halifax can become a great city. You have business intellect, presence, vision, social skills, and a strategic mindset—to be deployed for the benefit of members and the broader community. Your range of operational skills includes advocacy, public relations, human resources, financial management, marketing and promotions, administration, and member service.

You have credentials in business, economic development, urban planning, or a related field and have several years’ experience in leadership capacities. You have proven experience working with a high-calibre community-based Board of Directors and bring a complete understanding of governance along with the need for timely reports on strategy, operations, risk, and other key matters.
