Communications Manager

The Office of the Auditor General of Nova Scotia is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance concerning the operations of government, the use of public funds, and the integrity of financial and performance reports.

On their behalf, we are seeking a Communications Manager.

Reporting to the Deputy Auditor General, this newly created position presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional. The role will be responsible for managing, producing, implementing, and evaluating communication strategies that build internal and external awareness and understanding of the work of the Office.

What will it take to succeed in this role?

Ideally, you have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field coupled with several years of progressive experience leading the delivery of a broad range of communications services. Experience working in communications within a professional service model (finance, audit, legal) would be an additional asset.

Your exceptional written communication skills enable you to take complex technical information and convey it in an easily understandable fashion. You are well versed in strategic communications planning, issues management, media relations, speech writing, digital content, social media, and web design.

Personally, you are an idea person, highly action-oriented and a stickler for detail. You can shift fluidly from the strategic to the tactical and demonstrate the attitudinal and behavioural flexibility to meet the demands of the moment.

You have a high level of personal integrity and interpersonal savvy to quickly build strong and trusting relationships. Solid planning and coordination skills coupled with personal initiative will position you to build this important role from the ground up.
