The long-serving incumbent Senior Director of Programs is retiring early in the New Year. They are now seeking an experienced and respected not-for-profit leader with strong leadership and human resources skills to manage their programs in the coming years.
What qualities are needed in this role?
First and foremost, you are an exceptional leader of others who can combine long-term, strategic thinking with day-to-day program management. Personally, you have a strong belief in the value of the not-for-profit sector and a demonstrated track record of pursuing causes that contribute to the good of the community.
As Senior Director of Programs, you will provide leadership to seven program managers spread over multiple locations in HRM. Through your team, you will oversee the YWCA’s programs which focus on four critical areas: promoting the health, wellness, and leadership of diverse women and girls and gender diverse people; advancing women’s economic and housing security; delivering quality, accessible, early learning, and childcare; and ending violence against women and girls.
As a community leader, your exceptional interpersonal and communications skills enable you to build and nurture constructive relationships with a broad and diverse group of stakeholders. That group includes staff, clients and their families, various levels of government, similar agencies throughout Nova Scotia, media, funding partners, and others.
You possess appropriate academic credentials and several years’ experience managing in a not-for-profit setting. Operationally, you bring well-developed skills in human resources, financial management, operations, communications, grant management, and strategic planning.
