Litigation Lawyer Open

Halifax, NS

Established in 1986, Metcalf & Company is a leading boutique law firm in the marine, transportation, and increasingly renewable energies sector. The firm acts primarily in commercial litigation matters in the shipping and aviation industry, as well as in connection with complex contract negotiations, corporate financing and reorganizations, for Canadian, U.S. and European ship-owners and operators, shipbuilders, classification societies, and ports, amongst others.

On their behalf, we are seeking a highly motivated and personable litigation lawyer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer to be exposed to complex and challenging work from top tier clients in a niche industry, while being supported by a highly skilled and experienced team.

What qualities are needed as a Litigation Lawyer?

As a litigation lawyer, you will advise and act on corporate and commercial disputes including commercial litigation involving ship charters, cargo damage, products liability, defence procurement and other similar matters.

Practice areas of law for this role include:

  • Corporate and commercial
  • Commercial and general litigation
  • Insurance law
  • Admiralty and maritime law
  • Employment law

You are highly organized with strong attention to detail and can handle litigation files with minimal supervision.

You must be a member in good standing with a Canadian provincial bar society.

If this describes you, please forward your resume and a letter explaining clearly how your background and experience will meet the needs of Metcalf and Company. Applications can be emailed to Gerald Walsh Associates Inc. at apply@geraldwalsh.com, quoting project number 1942 in the subject line.
