Executive Director Filled

Charlottetown, PE

CHANCES (Caring, Helping, And Nurturing, Children Every Step) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides child development and parent support services to children from 0-11 years. Based in Prince Edward Island, CHANCES has a variety of programs offered to all families with a particular focus on those experiencing additional life challenges.

The long-serving incumbent Executive Director is leaving the organization in the next few months. They are now seeking an experienced and respected not-for-profit leader to manage their programs and operations in the coming years.

What qualities are required as Executive Director?

First and foremost, you are an exceptional leader of others who can combine long-term, strategic thinking with day-to-day program management. Personally, you have a strong belief in the value of the not-for-profit sector and a demonstrated track record of pursuing causes that contribute to the good of the community.

Ideally, you have formal training and experience in the human services field, such as education, health care, social work, early childhood development, and others.

Your interpersonal and communications skills enable you to build and nurture constructive relationships with a broad and diverse group of stakeholders. That group includes government, children and their families, employees, donors, Board members, and others.

As the primary interface with the Board of Directors, you are knowledgeable of good governance practices. In this capacity, you must work collaboratively with the Board, keeping them abreast of all external and internal issues that could affect the organization.

Operationally, you bring well-developed skills in human resources, financial management, operations, risk management, community engagement, and strategic planning. In addition, you are an extraordinary leader of others and known for creating a positive environment where people’s strengths are emphasized to enable them to do their best in the service of the community.

Compensation for this role is in the $125,000 + range. A full range of benefits, including a comprehensive, employer-paid health plan, is also offered.

The Executive Director of CHANCES must be a special person who does their job with compassion, integrity, and humility. If this describes you, please forward your resume and a letter explaining clearly how your background and experience will meet the needs of CHANCES. Applications can be emailed to Gerald Walsh Associates Inc. at apply@geraldwalsh.com, quoting project number 1901 in the subject line.
