Executive Director — Filled
The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Nova Scotia provides leadership and support to commercial real estate owners, managers, operators, and suppliers throughout Nova Scotia.
The Association is one of the eleven federated locals that collectively form BOMA Canada, which represents over 3,100 members in Canada and over 2.1 billion square feet of office space.
BOMA Nova Scotia is seeking to hire an Executive Director who will be responsible for managing and administering the Association’s policies, programs, and services. This part-time position will require approximately 50% of your time over the course of a year.
What qualities are needed as Executive Director?
First and foremost, you are an experienced leader with a mix of skills that include short and long-term planning, policy development, administration, financial management, event management, marketing and communication, human resources, and member services.
Well-regarded in the community, you are skillful at building and maintaining constructive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including members, affiliated associations, the business community, volunteers, government, media, and the public.
Ideally, you have senior-level experience in the not-for-profit or membership associations sector and have demonstrated experience leading change within organizations.
Lastly, you have proven experience working closely with a Board of Directors and committees of the Board. This includes ensuring that all meetings are organized and conducted in accordance with BOMA’s bylaws and meeting protocols. A key part of this function includes keeping the Board fully apprised of all external and internal issues that could affect the organization. Experience in the building sector would be considered an asset.
