Brunswick Street Mission, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, seeks to inspire a better quality of life that addresses the physical, emotional, practical and spiritual needs of those experiencing poverty.
While the Mission continues to address the basic, daily needs of those it serves, a multi-year strategy will see the organization engage differently with our community and help to address barriers that keep people in poverty.
On their behalf, we seek a passionate individual to lead this important community organization as its programs and services profile evolves.
Accountable to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the organization advances its mission and strategic directions.
What is required to succeed as Executive Director?
You are a firm believer in the value of the non-profit sector and have experience leading and managing in a non-profit or social enterprise environment. You are familiar with populations facing mental health, addictions and other challenges often associated with poverty.
Your proven leadership skills enable you to advance the long-term strategic view while applying day-to-day management and organizational skills to implement this vision.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills enable you to build and nurture constructive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including various levels of government, donors, funding partners, other non-profit and voluntary sector leaders, media, volunteers, staff, Board members
You possess a solid grounding in best governance practices and have a successful track record of working collaboratively with a volunteer Board of Directors.
Professionally you have demonstrated continuous improvement in managing human resources, financial management (including revenue growth), risk management, and communications.
This position requires a skilled and well-respected community leader with a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
