Director of Finance Open

Grand View Manor is a community-governed, not-for-profit, long-term care home located in Berwick, Nova Scotia, about an hour and a half from Halifax. The home serves 142 nursing home residents and more than 70 tenants in enriched housing and assisted living. On their behalf, we seek an experienced accountant to serve as their Director of Finance.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance is a strategic and trusted member of the senior management team and a pivotal contributor to the organization’s future growth. You will lead a small accounting team and direct and manage the overall financial operations.

As Director of Finance, you would be joining Grand View Manor at an exciting time, as they plan for the development of a new state-of-the-art facility scheduled to open in 2025 at an estimated cost of $100 million.

What qualities are needed for this role?

Your education includes a degree in business or another relevant program. A CPA designation is not required for this role.

Operationally, you bring well-honed financial and risk management skills. In addition, you have significant supervisory experience and familiarity with negotiating collective agreements.

You are a hands-on leader with strong strategic insight and a commitment to continuous improvement. You are highly empathetic with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

Ideally, you have experience in a not-for-profit setting, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and a track record promoting a safe and healthy workplace.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $90,000.
