Chief Executive Officer - Divert NS — Filled
Divert NS, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to championing recycling in Nova Scotia, has been at the forefront of building a waste diversion culture for over 25 years. Their unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and programming has positioned Nova Scotia as a global leader in innovative waste diversion solutions.
In collaboration with Divert NS, we are seeking an exceptional professional to step into the role of Chief Executive Officer and seize the opportunity to lead this highly respected organization toward a more sustainable future for Nova Scotia.
As the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and direction to the organization. You will assume accountability for their two primary recycling programs—the beverage container deposit refund program and the used tire management program—which have served as the backbone of their operations. Additionally, you will spearhead various other initiatives, including education and awareness programs, industry stewardship agreements, research and development endeavours, value-added manufacturing projects, and the management of a province-wide network consisting of 78 Enviro Depots.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will also oversee the day-to-day operations, encompassing financial management, administration, and human resources. Your expertise and guidance will shape the trajectory of Divert NS, ensuring its continued success and impactful contributions.
What qualities are required for this role?
As the ideal candidate, you possess a post-secondary degree in business administration or a related field such as environmental science or public administration, with a master’s degree considered a valuable asset. Your extensive experience in senior leadership roles, particularly within complex organizations like regulatory agencies, demonstrates your ability to thrive in challenging environments. Familiarity with solid waste management and Extended Producer Responsibility programs will be advantageous.
We are seeking an individual with astute financial acumen, strategic thinking skills, and a knack for cultivating and nurturing relationships with government agencies, recycling facilities, and the community at large. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities are paramount, as you will regularly engage with the Board, stakeholders, staff, and the media.
