Alderwood is a provincially licensed nursing home located in beautiful Baddeck, in the heart of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Built in 2010, this modern building was designed and constructed following sustainable design principles achieving LEED Silver Certification. It is a 70-bed facility organized into six households, each featuring its own dining room and kitchen for the residents.
On their behalf we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to serve as their Administrator. Reporting directly to the Board of Management, this individual is responsible for the overall direction and effective administration of the organization. They will provide leadership to a team of professionals to ensure care and services are delivered in keeping with the mission, vision and values of Alderwood that promote quality, resident-focused care.
What qualities are needed for this role?
Ideally, you have a health care management background coupled with demonstrated human resource leadership experience in a unionized environment. Your education includes a post-secondary degree, preferably in healthcare or business.
You are a highly empathetic and adaptable leader with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
As the main interface with the Board of Management, you are knowledgeable of good governance practices. In this role, you are able to work collaboratively with the Board, keeping them abreast of all external and internal issues that could affect the organization.
Operationally, you bring strong business acumen and well-honed skills in financial and resource management, operations, change management, policy development, risk management, and strategic planning. You also possess the experience and ability to ensure compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and safety codes.
