SEARCH PROCESS
Throughout the search process, we maintain a close working relationship with our corporate clients. We will listen to your concerns and comments and, using our expertise in executive search and knowledge of your industry, guide you through this important selection decision by following these steps:
Understanding your needs
Our first and most critical step in the search is to meet with you to develop a clear understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the position, reporting relationships, key challenges of role, performance expectations, experience requirements, educational and professional qualifications, behaviours and personal qualities that predict success, and issues and challenges facing the individual. From this frank discussion, we form a comprehensive picture of the type of individual you need.
Sourcing potential candidates
We identify potential candidates from diverse sources - our internal database of resumes of qualified job candidates; from responses to local, regional or national advertisements; from our extensive list of industry and professional contacts; and through our affiliates in Career Partners International located in all major centres throughout Canada.
Our experienced research team uses the latest methodologies to target the best candidates in your industry. Through our electronic databases of organizations, industry associations, previous searches, resumes and other contacts, we can quickly identify candidates who might not respond through traditional sources or who might not be aware of the job opening.
Screening and interviewing candidates
Using behavioral interviewing methods, we interview the most promising candidates to gain an understanding of their previous experience, accomplishments, and strengths and weaknesses. We explore their career objectives and identify salary expectations. We also consider their personalities and interpersonal skills because we believe that "fit" within your organization is as important as the skills match in determining the success and longevity of the employment relationship.
After carefully evaluating all these factors, we present to you the candidates whom we feel are best suited for a position in your organization. We arrange for you and others in your organization to interview these candidates. If you wish, we will attend these interviews, prepare interview questions, and work with you through the entire interviewing and selection process.
Checking references
We will contact supervisors, employees, peers, colleagues and associates to provide a full 360-degree reference check of the short list candidates and review these comments with you. We will also confirm all professional and educational credentials and administer personality tests as appropriate.
Negotiating the offer
Based on our experience and understanding of the marketplace, we will advise you on the most appropriate compensation package for the preferred candidate. Once the proposed package has been set, we will develop a letter of offer and convey it to the successful candidate. We will then assist in negotiating the various terms and conditions of employment with the individual.
Debriefing unsuccessful candidates
We will contact all unsuccessful candidates to advise them of the outcome of the search. Typically, we would provide valuable and constructive feedback to them for their benefit in the future.
