Director of Merchandise Planning, Distribution, and Control Our client, Wicker Emporium, is a locally owned, innovative, and growth-oriented leader in the home décor industry. Operating from 15 locations within Atlantic Canada and soon to open four stores in the Toronto area, the company offers their customers unique and beautiful home furnishings and gifts while maintaining a focus on socially responsible practices. On their behalf, we are seeking an experienced and results-oriented leader to assume the critical role of Director of Merchandise Planning, Distribution, and Control. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for all merchandise planning and distribution functions within the company. Strategically, you will establish budgets for buying, reorder based on performance, pricing and distribution plans that will generate sales growth, sufficient margins, and overall customer satisfaction. Possessing solid financial acumen, you will ensure margins are maintained on all products and inventory turnover is within standards. You will also oversee all purchasing and departmental budgets and keep a close eye on all costs. In addition, you will be responsible for supervising human resources activities in the department including recruitment, training, scheduling, attendance management, and performance management. You will also work closely with Marketing, Store Operations, and Finance to ensure departmental plans are integrated and supported effectively throughout the company. As the ideal candidate, you have several years experience in merchandising, planning, and distribution, preferably in a multi-store retail environment. You possess excellent planning skills and an innate ability to analyze and interpret data effectively to arrive at logical conclusions. In addition, you are a strategic thinker and have comprehensive knowledge of the most efficient warehousing and distribution techniques. You are an excellent manager of people with outstanding leadership skills and the capacity to motivate and develop others. |
