Advisor – Fisheries Management Systems

Our client, the Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chiefs Secretariat, is seeking an individual with an understanding of the fishing industry, demonstrated project management expertise, and comprehensive knowledge of database management, as their Advisor - Fisheries Management System (FMS).

In this key role, you will work with the FMS Group and participate in the ongoing implementation of the Fisheries Management System within participating First Nation communities throughout Atlantic Canada and Quebec. In this capacity, you will ensure the system becomes integral to the commercial fisheries business management and planning processes of each community. You will also be responsible for providing regular progress updates, including the creation of presentation materials. In addition, you will take part in the Fisheries Coordinator Training and Certification Program which assists participants with incorporating the training into their own management operations.

As the ideal candidate, you have an understanding of commercial fishing business operations and a thorough understanding of database management and reporting.Adept in project management, you have the ability to complete projects and achieve desired deliverables under strict deadlines. Personally, you possess superior communication skills and are a highly effective relationship builder with the ability to exercise tact, sensitivity, and discretion at all times. You are comfortable working collaboratively as a member of a team or independently. Experience working with First Nations and some ability to speak and understand French and/or Mi’kmaq and Maliseet languages are considered assets. Frequent travel within Atlantic Canada is required for this position.
