Blue Nose Marathon Leadership Volunteers The Blue Nose International Marathon is truly the people’s marathon – with a range of exciting events and a dedicated mission to encourage and challenge participants of all levels, from the novice walker to seasoned marathoner.Rather than simply a road race, the Blue Nose is a celebration of healthy living and active lifestyles, held over the Victoria Day weekend in May. The goals are to promote health and fitness among all Nova Scotians, particularly youth; to showcase our beautiful city of Halifax; and to raise significant charitable funds for the community. In just four years, the Blue Nose has evolved into a major community event, drawing participants from all walks of life and from parts far and wide. Over $150,000 in charitable funds has been raised to support the YMCA Strong Kids program over this time. The Blue Nose continues to grow and this coming year – our fifth year - more than 8,000 runners are expected to participate. We need enthusiastic leaders to help stage this world-class event. We are seeking volunteer committee chairs and coordinators in a number of key areas including:Race Operations; Runner Services and Registration; Marketing Communications; Volunteer; Youth Run; Team Relay; Pre and Post Race Activities; Logistics; Finance; Sponsorship This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your time and expertise to a fun, worthwhile community cause and at the same time develop your own leadership abilities.
