Professional Engineer - General Manager (Equity Potential)

Our client, a major player in the fabrication and erection of heavy fabrication members, is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer in the newly created position of General Manager.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the senior management team, you will play a pivotal role in developing new business opportunities and fostering client relationships to help grow the business. Working with an experienced team, you will oversee plant operations ensuring that projects are completed efficiently with minimal variances. You will work closely with senior financial management to ensure appropriate job costing and will also have profit and loss responsibility. This company is planning the construction of a new plant within the coming year and you will play a significant role in the design and building of this lean manufacturing facility. In addition to fostering client relationships, you will also seek out and cultivate new strategic partnerships and alliances.

As the ideal candidate, you are a professional engineer with structural steel experience including bridges, heavy trusses and other heavy fabrication members. You have a successful track record of developing business relationships, overseeing operations and managing the bottom line. With several years’ experience to your credit, you are well versed in industry trends and are familiar with various industry players and customers. As you will be interacting with an internal team, external partners and contractors, and various customers, a collaborative and consultative approach to doing business is essential. A strategic thinker, you are well known for your excellent interpersonal skills and your ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment. You are a member of, or are eligible to become a member of, the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia. The potential for equity ownership exists over the short term, for the right person.
