PROFILE - GERALD WALSH

Gerry is the founder and President of Gerald Walsh Associates Inc., a firm specializing in executive search, career transition and executive coaching. The firm provides services at the professional, middle management and senior management levels for national and regional companies.

Prior to establishing Gerald Walsh Associates in 1990, Gerry worked in several industry sectors including manufacturing, construction, banking, technology and professional services. He is a professional accountant (CMA) by training and holds an MBA degree. He recently served as Chair of CMA Canada, a national organization with 40,000 members. His wealth of experience enables him to understand the issues faced by managers and professionals and he uses this knowledge in coaching others across a wide range of sectors.

He has written several career management articles for professional publications and conducts numerous seminars for universities, professional groups and industry associations. He also writes a monthly newsletter for his clients and teaches at the university and professional levels. He is certified to administer the EQ-I (Emotional Quotient Inventory), the world's leading measurement of emotional intelligence.

Throughout his career, Gerry has had the opportunity to work with hundreds of senior managers and professionals. As a result of this work, he recognized the need for and developed The Leadership Marathon program. He is a strong advocate of one-on-one coaching as the most effective way to help individuals reach their full potential. He sees coaching as a partnership between the individual, his or her employer, and the coach, where all parties must understand their role in the relationship.

To be truly successful, Gerry believes there must be tangible and sustainable benefits arising from the coaching process. He is convinced that today's business environment requires a combination of emotional intelligence, intellect, and technical know-how. His coaching style challenges assumptions, stimulates "outside-the-box" thinking, and offers a safe environment in which to experiment with new ideas and approaches, resulting in lasting personal and professional development.

Gerry has many outside interests, but his passion is long-distance running. To date, he has completed over twenty full and half marathons. Gerry can be reached at (902) 424-1112 or email walsh@geraldwalsh.com.
