OUR COACHING PRINCIPLES

Customized approach
We recognize that as every individual is unique, so too is each situation. While each coaching engagement has shared fundamentals, we use a wide array of assessment tools and coaching methods to examine each situation individually and, in consultation with the individual and his or her employer, develop a customized approach that suits the pace, timeline and needs of the situation.

Collaboration
We work as partners with the individual to help clarify personal and professional goals and identify obstacles preventing them from reaching these goals. Together, we develop an action plan designed to remove these obstacles. We do not fix people. Rather, we work as partners in guiding them toward their goals and we ensure that they are in agreement with every step of the process before moving forward.

Whole person view
We understand that non work-related concerns such a family, health, or finances, may prevent an individual from realizing their full potential. The Leadership Marathon takes a holistic view of the individual and does not assess one's work in isolation. We believe a person must have balance in life in order to be successful and we work with qualified professionals, in fields outside our core specialty, to ensure the complete needs of the individual are addressed.

Results focused
The ultimate goal of The Leadership Marathon is to achieve measurable results. We do not take a passive approach to problem solving. Rather, each coaching session focuses on goal setting and action planning in a step-by-step process toward reaching the individual's goals. The proof of genuine learning is doing better, not just knowing more.

Individual ownership
We believe that the success of the coaching process is dependent on the individual taking ownership of the solution. It is the individual who must commit to the action plan and find the courage and resources within to make the change.
