OUR TEAM

We are a group of highly skilled professionals with broad experience in all facets of recruitment, selection, career transition, coaching and human resources. Clients in a wide variety of industries - manufacturing, communications, transportation, wholesale, retail, professional services, government, not-for-profit, technology, health care and financial services - have drawn on this skill and experience to achieve their organizational goals.

Here is a brief profile of our staff and associates:

Gerald Walsh, MBA, CMA, President

Gerry is the founder and President of Gerald Walsh Associates Inc., a firm specializing in executive search, career transition and executive coaching. The firm provides services at the professional, middle management and senior management levels for national and regional companies.

Prior to establishing Gerald Walsh Associates in 1990, Gerry worked in several industry sectors including manufacturing, banking, technology and professional services. He is a professional accountant (CMA) by training and recently served as Chair of CMA Canada, a national organization with 40,000 members.

Gerry has expertise in the entire recruitment and selection process including research, job design, interviewing, reference checking, compensation setting and negotiation. He has interviewed over 8,000 candidates during his career. He has written several career management articles for professional publications and conducts numerous seminars for universities, professional groups and industry associations. He also writes a bi-monthly e-newsletter for his clients and teaches at the university and professional levels.

In addition to his CMA, Gerry holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University and an MBA degree from Dalhousie University. He is a Fellow of The Society of Management Accountants of Canada.

Gerry is active in the community and professional organizations. He has served in a number of capacities including: National Chair, Society of Management Accountants of Canada; Director, Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce; Member, Board of Governors, Saint Mary's University; Chair, Fiscal Management Strategies Committee, Voluntary Planning Board of Nova Scotia; President, Society of Management Accountants of Nova Scotia; and Co-Chair of the Blue Nose International Marathon.

Adrien Adler, MBA, Director of Business Development/Consultant

Adrien brings a wealth of business experience and knowledge to Gerald Walsh Associates having worked with small privately owned organizations, large publicly traded multinationals, and public sector institutions. With strong sales and marketing skills, her success has spanned across several industries including management consulting, tourism and recreation, construction, and energy management.

Prior to joining Gerald Walsh Associates, Adrien led business development activities for the Canadian public sector operations of a Fortune 100 corporation where she was responsible for marketing and sales initiatives, project leadership and relationship management.

In this dual role of Director of Business Development and Consultant, Adrien plays a critical role in the management of client and candidate relationships, as well as in the planning and execution of search assignments. One of her key functions is to actively identify potential candidates within target industries and organizations. Once identified, she screens and interviews those individuals to further assess their skills and qualifications in relation to client requirements and expectations. Her business development activities include building relationships within the business community, organizing workshops and events, and preparing a bi-monthly e-newsletter to clients and candidates.

An alumnus of the Sobey School of Business MBA program at Saint Mary's University, Adrien also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University.

Adrien actively supports the Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through event participation and fundraising efforts. She also spends much of her free time skiing, golfing, cycling and enjoying the outdoors.

Sandra Larson, Office and Marketing Administrator

Sandra is a multi-dimensional team player with over 15 years of customer service experience in such industries as film and television, new media, airline and hospitality.

As Office and Marketing Administrator, Sandra's responsibilities range from managing the resume database to client and candidate contact. With a commitment to development and excellence, Sandra ensures the efficiency of our day to day operations while providing top quality service to all who come in contact with our office.

Sandra supports the Maritime film and television industry and often volunteers her time on local projects. She has also participated in the QEII volunteer program, the Atlantic Jazz Festival, and regularly supports the Salvation Army and the Canadian Red Cross. Having lived and worked both abroad and across Canada, Sandra is proud to call the Maritimes home.

Michael Leiter, Ph.D., Associate

Michael is professor of psychology at Acadia University and director of the Centre for Organizational Research and Development, which applies high-quality research methods to human resource issues that confront organizations. Michael holds the Canada Research Chair in Occupational Health and Wellness and is actively involved as a consultant on organizational development issues in Canada, the United States and Europe.
