HEALTHY BUSINESS AWARD

Gerald Walsh Associates Inc. is proud to have been awarded a Healthy Business Award by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce in recognition of our leadership and commitment to workplace health.

The Healthy Business Awards are presented by the Chamber of Commerce to select organizations that demonstrate healthy business practices, as defined by the National Quality Institute's Healthy Workplace for Small Organizations.

From a strategic perspective, we recognize that happy, healthy employees who are challenged in a variety of areas tend to be more productive in the workplace, more satisfied in their jobs, more pleasant for our clients to interact with, and more dynamic people who make greater contributions to our business and community.

It therefore makes good business sense to support our employees in being happy and healthy in all areas of their lives.

Some of the highlights of our company's healthy business practices include:

• Provision of a $500 per year Health and Wellness account to each employee;



• Adoption of a Healthy Foods policy that promotes healthy eating habits by providing fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, teas and other healthy snacks free of cost to employees;



• Flexible work hours that encourage and enable employees to participate in physical activities and recreational pursuits;



• Time off for employees to volunteer in the community and to those in need;



• Continuous and open communication between and among employees, as well as openness to innovation and flexibility so that all health and wellness challenges can be quickly identified and addressed;



• Bright, comfortable office environment that makes working easier and more comfortable and that is welcoming to others;



• Food drives are combined with all seminars and workshops presented or hosted by the organization - the cost to participate in these events is a food donation to Feed Nova Scotia.
